About Kathotiya

A small tribal village called Kathotiya, situated
only 25 km from Bhopal offers unlimited thrill,
pleasure and peace to an ecotraveller and
adventurer. The village is situated in a beautiful
green valley, surrounded by precipitous hill faces,
verdant forests, and ancient rock shelters and
paintings.

Kathotiya is mainly inhabited by the legendary Bhil and Bhilala Tribes, who find mention in many
ancient Indian scriptures. These colourful tribes were traditionally Hunter, Gatherers, but have
now taken up settled agriculture, although their meagre earnings are still significantly
supplemented by forest produce collected from the abundant forest around.

Kathotiya is the first “Community based Ecotourism Destination” of Madhya Pradesh where all the arrangements ranging from hospitality & catering to conducted Village & Nature tours are being organised by trained local community people.
