Coorg lies in Western Ghats edging along the Deccan plateau, it catches best of the South West monsoon during the months of June till September, turning the landscape with many streams joining in to mighty rivers. Barapole is the river to Raft, considered to be the deadliest in Coorg due to its turbulent flow and the ambience that surrounds it.
Our rafting stretch (Kithu-Kakkatu River also known as upper barapole) lies on the upper section of the ferocious Barapole River of Coorg, famous for its turbulanse and gradient that flows through the dense forests of Brahmagiri Wild Life Sanctuary. Very few of the natives are aware of the ambience and serenity of the valley and have ever dared to trek along the river. Entry to the sanctuary is restricted which is governed by the forest authorities to maintain and preserve the wildlife with rich flora and fauna, and the overall eco system of the valley. The regular rafting stretch lies before the Sanctuary, starting from our Base Camp that lies in the mid section of the river near Ponya Devarakad (Sacred groves of Coorg).
