Sight Seeing Around: Surkunda Devi Temple – The Surkunda Devi is held on the ocassion of ganga Dussehra, at the Surkunda Devi Temple, dedicated to Godess Durga. Mussoorie – Mussoorie is a city and a municipal board, about 34km from Dehradun. Situated in the foothills of the Himalaya ranges, is also known as the Queen of Hills. The adjoining town of Landour, which includes a military cantonment, is considered part of ‘greater mussoorie’, as are the townships of Barlowganj and Jharipani. Chamba - Chamba, It is 31Kms from Dhanaulti. The town of Chamba, at a height of 1,676 mtrs. Provides a panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks and the Bhagirathi river, It is midst of an apple growing region. Tehri Lake & Dam – Tehri Dam is the primary dam of the Tehri Developement Project, a major hydroelectric project centered near Tehri Town in the state of Uttrakhand in India. Located on the Bhagirathi River, the principal tributary of the sacred River ganges, the Tehri Dam has a height of 855 feet (261 m), making it the 5th tallest dam in the world. The dam’s intended capabilities include a power generation capacity of 2400 MW, Provision of irrigation to an area of 270,000 hectares, irrigation stabilization to an area of 600,000 hectares, and a supply of 270 million gallons of drinking water per day to the industrialized areas of Delhi, Uttraparadesh and Uttrakhand. It will soon become an important center of attraction on the completion of the dam at Tehri, when the huge lake will become a picturesque spot. Facilities are being developed here.
