Zanskar River Rafting, Leh,Ladakh
Zanskar River Rafting, Leh,LadakhDetailed DescriptionAbout the Activity: Zanskar River originates from the high altitude plateau of Sarchu on the border of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Originally known as the Tsarap the river gorges a path out of the rocky mountains of western Himalayas, dropping in a continuous torrent of class V rapids. The river then eases into the forbidden Kingdom of Zanskar and slowly flows past the capital at Padum. Here it joins with the Stod River which flows down from the PensiLa pass on the road from Kargil to Padum.Rafting in Ladakh is a whole different experience. Floating past barren, rugged mountains which keep changing hues as we pass is a grand feeling. We run day trips on the Indus and Zanskar rivers in Ladakh. We leave Leh early (around 8 am) and drive to our put-in point. The rafting stretch takes anywhere between 2.5 to 3 hrs depending on the river volume of the day. You’ll be provided hot lunch on the beach at the ‘take-out’ point and would be driven back to Leh. Inclusions & Exclusions: Transportation from Leh to Leh How to Get There: On the banks of Indus River, Phey. 45 mins drive from Leh. Applicable Seasons: June to August |
