About the Activity

Kondana Caves are located in Karjat region, by the Ulhas River. It is quite near  to Rajmachi Fort in Raigad district in the state of Maharashtra.
         

They are imposing with a height of 60m above sea level. There is a group of Buddhist Caves which belong to ancient period. It is their location and easy accessibility that makes them a very pleasurable and most famous trek near Mumbai. Ulhas Valley comprises the area of Ulhas River.

The area is filled with lush greenery and rich fauna. You get to see streams, waterfalls and   lush green paddy fields  on the way. Hundreds of crabs cross your path on the way. If you are walking around  dusk or dawn time, then you can see lot of fireflies twinkling around you. While you sleep in a village house ,rain drops pound the roof  with  thunderous  noise .A road leads along the Ulhas River which will take you to a tribal village. Beyond it, the path turns left and winds across a field. After that, the path ascends a gentle spur and enters into a forest. The path crosses many streams and rivulets. After a small bypass you are at a lovely waterfall during monsoon.

The journey is promising as well as exhilarating.Overall Kondana  trek experience is unique and unforgettable. It will be etched in your memories forever.

Duration

Trek  will take one day .A minimum of 10 persons and maximum 50 persons are  required in a  group for this trek.
Best season for trek is June To September.

From Mumbai-It is 100 km & takes about 2 hours.

The Route is via Mumbai- Pune expressway

From Pune - It is 78 km & takes aroung 1 Hour and 30 minutes
