This year through UNDP-GEF, Govt. of India sponsored Turtle Conservation and Turtle Festival project, Sahyadri is covering the entire Sindhudurga district. With the support and guidance of the Forest Department – Sindhudurga, Forest Department – Mangrove Cell, local Gram Panchayts, local people and experts, Sahyadri has conserved 19 nests in the district. With an intention of creating new opportunities for the villages that take part in the conservation program, Sahyadri has announced this festival. It gives an opportunity for tourists to know more about the local life, exchange ideas and create a bonding with the nature conservation program. Similar to Velas, Sahyadri has conducted hospitality training for the local people who will host the tourists in their own houses. Home Stay charges are Rs. 300.00 per person per day which includes stay, 2 veg. meals, 1 breakfast and 2 times tea. Sahyadri is hosting this festival under the guidance of UNDP-GEF, Forest Department – Sindhudurga, Forest Department – Mangrove Cell. Sahyadri has invited all the nature lovers to visit Mochemad, Tal. Vengurla, dist. Sindhudurga and get connected with the conservation program.
