With the dynamic Brahmaputra and dense flora and fauna, it is a perfect getaway to experience peace and serenity in true sense. You can spend time indulging in the pleasures of bird-watching, as the island is an important habitat for birds. Hundreds of migratory birds, various types of flora and fauna, culture, festivals and various other activities make Majuli an interesting place to visit. About Eco Camp & Activities This Eco-Camp at Majuli is a basic bamboo-built stay run by a Mishing family at Majuli. It looks like a group of traditional huts around a small mustard field. The food served is fabulously traditional. There are delicious red rice, with basic dal and veggies, traditional items like bamboo chicken, fish soup, baked catfish. The Mishing family will give you a chance to understand their culture, cuisine and living by interacting with the owners. Activities at Eco Camp Angling: Angling is a method of fishing by means of an "angle" (fish hook). At Majuli, you can indulge in fishing with the locals & learn various techniques. Cycling in Majuli: You can go for joy riding cycle and can best experience the secrets of Majuli the land of cultures. Boating: Trip to Majuli is indeed incomplete without a boating experience along the river Brahmaputra which offers picturesque landscapes as one takes the ride. River Crossing: To indulge in some adventures, river crossing is one such activity carried around Majuli Inclusions: The Package includes All Meals and One Night Stay in an Eco Camp Cottage for 2 Adults Children below 5 years are not charged extra Activity charges for Angling, River crossing, Boating, Cycling & Local Sightseeing Exclusions: Package does not include any transportation cost till the Eco Camp at Majuli. Ferry charges & Transportation excluded. Excludes everything which is not mentioned in the inclusions How to Get There Location: Majuli Island is about 300 Kms east of Guwahati & 20 Kms away from Jorhat. By road: Jorhat is connected by road to Guwahati(Assam). It takes arounf 6-7 Hours to reach Jorhat from Guwahati. From Jorhat it is only 14 Kms to Nimatighat, from where regular Government ferry services every morning & afternoon are available. By train: The nearest train station is Jorhat. By air: The closest airport is also at Jorhat. There are daily flights to Jorhat from Guwahati, and four flights a week from Kolkata. Applicable Seasons The period to visit Majuli is from October to March. |
