About the Activity:

The Hamta Circuit comprises of the picturesque Hamta valley which leads to the Hamta pass. This circuit was used by the people of Spiti to cross to Manali for trade, cattle grazing, ect. This pass was also recommended by the local natives as the shortest way to reach Manali. It is said that the inhabitants of the Sethan village, the last village that we leave behind in Manali, were basically the people of Spiti valley who settled there for a better trade opportunities. The Hamta valley is also know for spotting the Himalayan Ibex and the Himalayan Black Bear.

Day 1: Arrival at Manali, take connecting cabs to the hotel, freshen up at the hotel, breakfast and introduction to your guides, cooks, porters. After lunch, collect your gear (sleeping bags, carry mattress, tents). Also check your personal things such as warm cloths, trekking shoes, windcheaters, medicine etc. Take a local sightseeing tour of Manali. Evening after dinner, debriefing on the trek, and close the day. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2:  After early breakfast, depart for Gadi Dera(Sheppard’s halt) the last road head by cab on sharing basis. Get down at Gadi Dera and start the gradual trek, through the Devdhar (Pine Forest) entering the Great Hamta Valley (Altitude 12500 ft). Today also cross over the Tree Line to the next camp trekking over the Famous Hamta Nallah on which the Great Allan Dungal water project has been constructed. Arrive at the Camping ground, end the first day walk at this beautiful camp site, over looking at the Meadow of Hamta Valley, and the north face of Deo Tiba(6000m), Inder Killa (5600m) Peaks. Lunch on arrival at the Camping ground, (after 4 hour of gradual walk). Dinner and overnight at the camp site.

Day 3:  After early breakfast, pack up the camp, and move toward the Hamta Base Camp (altitude 4000m) arrive at the base camp, be welcomed by hot tea and snacks, today you will be spending night on a higher altitude of the trek, close to the north face of Deo Tiba, and looking on the Hamta pass, and Inder Killa peak. These peak have been attempted many times and not many people have conquers them. Dinner and overnight at the base camp.

Day 4: After breakfast, depart for Hamta pass, enjoy the magnificent of the greater Himalayas, over the Bara Shigri and Chita Shigri peaks, the Bara Shigri Glacier and Spiti Valley. Return back to the base camp, hot lunch will be served, after lunch trek back to the head Gaddi Dera, take connecting cabs to Manali.
